Opteon SF05 Chemours Specialty Cleaning Fluid
Ideal for Sub-Micron Particle and Polar Soils Removal – Safe for you and the environment
Opteon SF05 is best suited for the use in removal of ionic soils and fine particulate from critical component parts. It is compatible with most plastic, ceramic and metal components while enhancing solvency for polar particulates. Opteon SF05 is the environmentally friendly, free of fluorinated greenhouse gases (as listed in Annex 1 of the EU regulations 517/2014) way to safely replace HFE, HFC, CFC, HCFC, 1,1,1, -tricholoroethane solvents in many industrial applications.
Features and Benefits
- Fast drying with an optimum boiling point (39 °C [102.2 °F]): allows cleaned parts to be processed and used immediately
- Productivity: No surfactants needed- Removes extra washing steps to achieve residue-free cleaning; High soil loading capacity – reduces equipment down time due to less solvent changeouts.
- Nonflammable, Low odor and toxicity
- Excellent environmental profile: Low GWP (<10), EU 517/ 2014 compliant
Typical Applications for Opteon SF05
- Sub-micron CMOS particle removal, sensor and sensitive optical device cleaning
- 3D printing cleaning fluid
- Precision cleaning – Light oil and grease removal from metal, plastic, and glass substrates
- Rinsing and drying media – Heat transfer fluid – absorption drying
- Cold cleaning solvent
- Particulate, Ionics and Fingerprint removal
Opteon SF05 – Ideal Sub-Micron Particulate Removal
Opteon SF05 is great for the cleaning of contaminates in the sub-micron range (Ex: dust and skin flakes) that tend to bind to surfaces due to electrostatic forces and substrate surface geometries that cause mechanical entrapment. By utilizing SF05, a thinner boundary layer and higher liquid flow-through momentum is achieved which optimizes its ability to unbind these contaminates. SF05 exhibits high density, low viscosity and low surface tension properties to aid its performance as a specialty cleaning fluid.
Metal, Plastic and Elastomer Compatibility of Opteon SF05
Opteon SF05 was found compatible with zinc, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Contact with highly basic process materials, pH 10 or above, is not recommended. Most plastics and elastomers can be safely cleaned in Opteon™ SF05. None of the plastics or elastomers that were tested by simulating a typical cleaning cycle (short-term exposure of unstressed plastics and elastomers) were deemed incompatible (as shown in charts under the “Technical Data” tab).
Safety, Toxicity, and Environmental
Opteon SF05 exhibits no closed or open cup flash point and is classified as a nonflammable liquid by NFPA and DOT.
Storage and Handling
Opteon SF05 is thermally stable and does not oxidize or degrade during storage. It is recommended to store containers in a clean and dry area and protect them from freezing and excessive temperatures of 46 °C (115 °F). When stored properly, an unopened package has an indefinite shelf life. Package sizes for Opteon™ SF01 are 19 L (5 gal) pails and 208 L (55 gal) drums.
