ReleaSys™ TM1 | Release Agents for Tire Molding

Superior Release Ease and Surface Quality; Optimal Air Bleed; Maximized Coating Durability

Miller-Stephenson has been one of the leading release agent manufacturers for the past 40 years, with a specialty for rubber and tire molding applications. Utilizing our close relationship with our tire manufacturing customers and years of ‘real-world’ experience we have developed a next-generation tire and bladder release systems designed specifically for today’s new generation of compounds rubbers.  Miller-Stephenson understands the challenges tire manufacturers are facing: more abrasive rubber formulations, faster, hotter cycle times, and more complex tread patterns. Our release agents for tire molding are optimized to provide superior protection of bias tire and radial tire process and extend bladder life-spans.

Our flagship product, ReleaSys™ TM1 is optimized to form a robust durability release film which offers superior slip, extended re-application intervals, optimal air bleed, and superior tread pattern replication all without the greasy, oily mess typically observed with low-quality release systems. If you consider the sidewall, tread segments, and bladder there are many opportunities for sticking which can significantly affect your process and production efficiency. ReleaSys™ TM1 utilizes proprietary crosslinking resin technology to thoroughly anchor the release coating to surfaces, maximizing durability while also minimizing application volumes. This translates to less release agent applied less frequently – a potent combination.  Benefits of our release agents for tire molding include:

  • Exceptional Release and friction reduction
  • Multi-release and lower application volumes
  • Significant increase in bladder life
  • Superior Lubrication and Reliability
  • Minimized build-up and mold fouling
  • 100% water-based; zero VOC formulation
  • High-throughput and lower rejection rates
  • Concentrated and Ready-to-use variants

Release Agents for Tire Molding – Bladder Release Systems

Our tire curing bladder coatings protect the working surface of the curing bladder against chemical and abrasion attack during its service life. Protecting the bladder against the high level of abrasion that occurs in the region it comes into  contact with the tire’s bead areas significantly improves its service life. Release Agents for tire molding also act as a barrier to help slow down the ingress of sulfur and other compounding ingredients from the hard chafer compound – which leads to  hardening of the curing bladder. Providing a barrier to the ingress of these materials helps to further increase bladder life by reducing bladder cracks in the vent lines – a typical cause of early bladder failure. Depending on the bladder type,  curing press type and fit to the inside of the tires being cured, customers report significant increases in bladder life after switching to ReleaSys TM1 in average bladder-life of up to 45% when using these coatings.

An additional benefit provided by some of the coatings available in Miller-Stephenson’s range of products is enhanced slip. This helps eliminate the start-up difficulties often associated with new bladders, and works to reduce defect levels throughout the life of the bladder. Our tire curing bladder coatings provide protection to the curing bladders throughout their service life and they will help enhance slip to improve tire uniformity and reduce defects.

Outside and Inside Tire Paints

Our release agents for tire molding providing the following benefits:

  • Excellent Air-Bleed – This minimizes surface imperfections and assist tire uniformity
  • High degree of surface slip – This greatly assists with bladder positioning and centering during use
  • Filler-free – Utilizing proprietary surface chemistry all of our release agent for tire molding utilize zero filler, yielding smoother surface finishes, zero build-up, and excellent air bleed even on bias tires.

Our ReleaSys coatings are designed to be the most advanced and cost-effective tire release system available, providing reliability release, superior lubrication (slip), smooth air bleed, and rub off resistance.

ReleaSys™ 8500 – Rubber Molding Release Agent

An excellent compliment to our ReleaSys TM1, ReleaSys™ 8500 is a highly versatile water-based, semi-permanent molding release agent designed to exhibit superior durability, surface adhesion, and minimization of slip-stick.  Our product develops a long lasting thin-film on the mold surface with absolutely no transfer and no mold build-up. Our advanced chemistry provides extended reapplication intervals, ideally suited for high-throughput rubber, silicone and elastomer molders.   ReleaSys 8500 will not interfere with post-production finishing operation.
