Case Study

cost efficiency

Cost Efficiency

Was achieved by decreasing production downtime and maintenance associated with high-end medical mechanical ventilators.

Increase Production

Increased Reliability

The higher the quality of the materials used, the more likely it is that the device or equipment will work correctly for a longer period of time, therefore increasing product reliability.

downtime

Minimal Downtime

Was achieved by decreasing the costly maintenance associated with mechanical ventilator devices and minimizing equipment downtime.

Problem:

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was sourcing a multi-purpose performance grease that needed to be ISO 10993 biocompatible, can be applied for several O-ring sealing applications and serve as a galvanic barrier for stainless steel screws to prevent galvanic corrosion. TriboSys™ can greatly reduce overall maintenance costs associated with critical and non-critical medical applications by prolonging service cycles.

Solution:

Customers typically observe a significant decrease in component wear and significant increases in O-ring and other rubber component service lives. All variants of TriboSys™ can greatly reduce overall maintenance costs associated with critical and non-critical medical applications by prolonging service cycles and TriboSys™ biocompatible lubricants are also unaffected by all forms of hospital sterilization without galvanic corrosion or degradation.

Result:

Testing results showed that TriboSys MS-3270MD grease was unmatched in performance results and is now a specified grease for all of NASA’S VITAL ventilator product line manufacturing. TriboSys™ lubricants were engineered and tailored for today’s medical industry by offering a biocompatible line of lubricants that provides superior protection and thermal stability for medical applications over competitor lubricants. These products offer the utmost reliability, safety, and durability with critical medical applications, all while keeping patients safe and reducing overall maintenance cost’s.

-Biocompatible (ISO 10993)
-Chemically Inert; Non-nutrient, and no migration
-Non-Flammable; Oxygen-safe
-Odorless and Non-Staining

TriboSys™ MS-3270MD

Miller-Stephenson’s TriboSys™ is a family of greases and oils that are biocompatible under ISO 10993, providing superior lubrication under the most challenging medical applications in comparison to hydrocarbon and silicone alternatives. All variants of TriboSys™ are unaffected by all forms of sterilization and will not transfer or degrade under these conditions.
